Companionship comes in all forms and sizes and Ruble, a Russian Dwarf Hamster, provides her owner with an abundance.

As always the challenge in painting a treasured pet is to capture their unique character.   Since Ruble is tiny I felt a montage of 3 images would do this effectively, a picture into the secure life of a hamster that sleeps on her back, is inquisitive and loves her food.

A total of 43 different coloured pastel pencils were used to render the varied subtle colours of Ruble's soft strokeable fur.
