As I was drawing Alex’s portrait I was reminded of the often referred to as ‘enigmatic’ Mona Lisa’s smile.

The slight upward turn of the corners of her mouth nudge her cheeks up so that the smile echoes faintly in her eyes.

The viewer is left pondering what is going behind that smile?
