Bliss, Common Seal
Charcoal on paper
20 x 28 cm (7.9 x 11”)
36 x 43 cm Framed

Seals have it all figured out.  Unconcerned with maintaining a slim figure, they consume as much as possible to build up a good layer of insulating blubber against the cold North Sea punctuated by periods of rest on land in this characteristic head and tail raised basking position - a state of restful alertness?

The natural behaviour of animals reminds us to truly appreciate pleasures when and wherever we find them.
